Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major Charles Bunn serves as CSM of the 279th Army Field Support Brigade in Huntsville, Alabama, a position he has held since 4 February 2018. CSM Bunn joined the Louisiana National Guard in August 1997 as a Private First Class with the 199th Support Battalion. After serving ten years with multiple units CSM Bunn transferred to the Alabama National Guard in March 2007 as a Staff Sergeant with the 279th Signal Battalion.

CSM Bunn’s consecutive assignments include Maintenance Specialist - Det 2 Co B 199th Support Battalion 1997-1999, Supply NCO - HHC 1/156th Armor Battalion 1999 - 2002, Supply NCO - C Co 1/156th Armor Battalion 2002 - 2006, Supply NCO – ETroop 2/108th Cavalry 2006, Supply NCO - B Troop 2/108th Cavalry 2006 - 2007, Battalion Supply NCO - HHC 279th Signal Battalion 2007-2008, Supply NCO - C Co115th ITSB 2008-2011, Contracting NCO, PBO, Senior Supply NCO - 1169th Contracting Battalion 2011-2013, Contracting NCO, PBO, Senior Supply NCO, Operations NCO, & First Sergeant - 1169th Contracting Battalion 2013-2015,Operations NCO & First Sergeant - 279th AFSB 2015 - 2018, and Command Sergeant Major,Operations NCO, S-1 & S-2 - 279th AFSB 2018 - Present.

CSM Bunn deployed as the Senior Logistics NCO of HHC 1/156th Armor Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Iraq 2004.

CSM Bunn is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Wheeled Vehicle Repairer (63W/91B), Unit Supply Course (92Y), Contracting NCO Course (51C) and Automated Logistical Supply Specialist Course (92A). He has an Associates Degree in Business Management with Columbia Southern University.
