Sergeant Major Eblen is a native of Hutchinson, Minnesota. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves on 10 January 1986. He attended Basic Training and AIT at Fort Benning, Georgia as an 11B Infantry Soldier
SGM Eblen’s assignments include: staff member of the 371st Theater Transportation Opening Element Detachment, Highland Park, Illinois, staff member of the 6/100th 2nd Bde 94th Div, Highland Park, Illinois, team member of the 1/340th TSBn, 181st IN Bde, Arden Hills, Minnesota. In 2003, SGM Eblen was deployed for the first time with the 353rd Transportation Company out of Buffalo, Minnesota, as a 7500 gallon fuel hauler in Arifjan, Kuwait. During his Army Reserve career he has held the positions of: Senior Transportation Supervisor, Acting Schoolhouse SGM, Course Manager/Senior Instructor for Transportation Senior Leader and Advanced Leader courses plus the 88M Reclassification course, Weapons Training Team NCOIC, Acting Platoon Leader and a Squad Leader.
During his career he has been deployed to Iraq twice, once being a CIED member of Task Force Troy in Al Assad and Baghdad, then Afghanistan for 1st Army Joint Task Force Paladin Shadow training mission, a deployment to Kaiserslautern, Germany attached to the 21st Special Troops Battalion, in support of Atlantic Resolve European Reassurance.
SGM Eblen is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy online course and Class 16 001 final phase, Battalion Pre Command/ Command Sergeants Major course 18 001, the Mission Command Digital Master Gunner course, the Master Resilience Trainer course, the 1SG course, he has completed all levels of the NCOPDS, T3 IED Defeat course, Counter RCIED Electronic Warfare course, Army Basic Instructor course, Small Group Instructor course, and both 88M reclass phases.
SGM Eblen holds an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, a Commercial Driver’s License, a Dairy Management course diploma, was a certified Union Pacific Railroad conductor, and an EMS EMT Basic certificate.
SGM Eblen’ s military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4th award), Army Achievement Medal (4th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (1st Award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Iraq Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver Wheeled Vehicle clasp. SGM Eblen is a warehouse material handler for 3M Company in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He is married and they have three adult children and five grandchildren.
