LTC Jason M. Knapp


Lieutenant Colonel Jason M. Knapp assumed the duties of commander Army Field Support Battalion-Mannheim in July 2019. LTC Knapp, a native of Eureka, Illinois, originally entered service in the US Army Reserve as an enlisted Soldier in 1997, with the military occupational specialty of Heavy Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic (63S). He was later commissioned through ROTC on active duty as a Second Lieutenant in 2002.

LTC Knapp’s previous assignments include: Assistant S4, 426th Brigade Support Battalion (BSB), 101st Airborne Division (ABN); Mechanical Maintenance Platoon Leader, B Company, 426th BSB, 101st ABN; Maintenance Control Officer, B Company, 426th BSB, 101 ABN; Support Operation Maintenance Officer, 426th BSB, 101st ABN; Logistics Operations Officer, Military Transition Team, 1st Battalion, 327 Infantry Regiment, 101st ABN; Battalion S1, 832nd Ordnance Battalion (OD BN), 59th Ordnance Brigade (OD BDE); Company Commander, HQ/A Company, 832nd OD BN, 59th OD BDE; Deputy Supply and Services Officer, G4, 2nd Infantry Division; Secretary of the General Staff, United States Army Recruiting Command; Deputy Support Operations Officer, 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade (1IDSB), 1st Infantry Division (1ID); Support Operations Officer, 542nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 1IDSB, 1ID; Battalion Executive Officer, 601st Aviation Support Battalion, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1ID; and G4 Logistics Planner, US Army Europe. LTC Knapp has deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and once to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield, Inherent Resolve, and Resolute Support.

LTC Knapp is a graduate of the Ordnance Officer’s Basic Course, the Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course, Intermediate Level Education Course, Support Operations Course Phase 2, Joint Planners Course, Defense Support to Civil Authority Course, Security Cooperation Planner’s Course, and various other technical courses. He earned a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Automotive Technology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a Master’s in Business Administration – Management from New Charter University. 

LTC Knapp’ s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation (2 OLC), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and various campaign and service medals. He has also been inducted into the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe.

LTC Knapp is married and they have one daughter.
