LTC James E. “Jimbo” Hayes

Lieutenant Colonel James E. “Jimbo” Hayes took command of the Army Field Support Battalion-Bragg in June 2022.

LTC Hayes was commissioned a quartermaster lieutenant following his college graduation in 2005. After attending the Officer Basic Course, he served as a platoon leader in the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, at Fort Lewis, Washington, before reflagging as 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment and re-stationing to Germany. While in Germany, he served as platoon leader, troop executive officer, and squadron S4 before attending the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course in 2009.

After attending the CCC, he was assigned to the 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, and served as a battalion staff officer, troop commander, brigade support operations officer, and squadron executive officer. LTC Hayes was selected to attend the Air Command and Staff College in 2014 and was forward stationed in Kuwait as the 840th Transportation Battalion executive officer. In 2016, he was reassigned to Germany where he served as a theater logistics planner for the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, 16th Sustainment Brigade S3, 16th Sustainment Brigade XO, and XO to the commanding general of the 21st TSC. LTC Hayes’ most recent assignment has been with the Joint Staff J7 where he served as the Global Force Management/Joint Operations Planning and Execution System program manager for the Joint Deployment Training Center at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

LTC Hayes has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a platoon leader and troop XO, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a troop commander, and in support of Operation Inherent Resolve as a battalion XO.

His military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, and the Air Command and Staff College.

LTC Hayes graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2005 with two Bachelor of Science degrees in chemistry and mathematics.

LTC Hayes is married and has two son
