Lieutenant Colonel Moniz is a native of Texas. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Community Health from Texas A&M University, a Master of Business Administration from College of William and Mary, and Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from University of Lousiville. His military education includes Aviation Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, Army Intermediate Level Education, Joint and Combined Warfighting School, certification from the International Society of Logistics as Demonstrated Master Logistician and is also Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified.
Lieutenant Colonel Moniz most recently served as the Professor of Military Science University of Georgia, Athens Georgia.
Lieutenant Colonel Moniz enlisted in the Army as a Fuel and Electrical Systems Repairer (63G) in 1995 and later was commissioned as an Aviation Officer from Texas A&M University in 2001 transferring to Logistics in 2005. He has served in a variety of command and staff positions to include attack helicopter platoon leader, Battalion and Detachment S-4, Fort Hood, Texas where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; Airlift Officer, 4th Battlefield Coordination Detachment Shaw AFB, South Carolina where he deployed to Qatar in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; Company Commander, Charlie Company, 832nd Ordinance Battalion, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; Transportation Integration Division Officer in Charge – deployed to Haiti in support of Operation Unified Response and Distribution Chief Support Operations Branch – deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Brigade Logistics Officer (S-4), and 10th Battalion Executive Officer 7th Transportation Brigade Expeditionary; and Sustainment Division Staff Analyst Army Capabilities Integration Center TRADOC. Lieutenant Colonel Moniz has participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom I, II, IV, V, Operation Enduring Freedom V, VI, XI, and XII, and Operation Unified Response.
Lieutenant Colonel Moniz’s awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (w/ 1 Bronze OLC) , Army Commendation Medal (w/ 4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (w/ OLC), National Defense Service Medal (w/ Bronze Star), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (w/ 3 Bronze Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral 3), Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, and ISAF NATO Medal. Lieutenant Colonel Moniz and his wife have three children.
