LTC Denny W. Bernacki

Commander

Lieutenant Colonel Denny W. Bernacki assumed the duties as commander of the Army Field Support Battalion-Germany on June 24, 2022.

LTC Bernacki was recently assigned as the Cross Functional Team Sustainment Integration and Modernization team chief in the Sustainment Capability Development Integration Directorate with the U.S. Army Futures Command, Fort Lee, Virginia.

Prior to his assignment at the S-CDID, he was assigned to the 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command at Fort Hood, Texas, from June 2017 to May 2019, serving as the secretary general staff and as Support Operations Distribution Integration Branch chief. From May 2015 to June 2017,

Bernacki served as a Brigade Logistics Support Team chief for the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, and battalion executive officer for the Army Field Support Battalion-Hood at Fort Hood, Texas. From 2013-2014 he served in the State Department, Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations, as part of the interagency intermediate level education fellowship, Washington, D.C.  From 2012-2013 he was selected to attend The College of Williams and Mary’s Raymond A. Mason School of Business as a Maj. Gen. James Wright MBA fellow at Williamsburg, Virginia. Prior to his fellowship he served as the battalion S3 (operations) for the 87th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion and commanded the 396th Transportation Company, 87th CSSB, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. 

LTC Bernacki served in a variety of company grade positions to include: support operations plans and operations officer for the 260th CSSB forward deployed in Baghdad, Iraq, and Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; distribution company executive officer, platoon leader, and assistant brigade S4 for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, forward deployed in Baghdad, Iraq, and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Bernacki was enlisted from 1998 to 2004, serving as a mechanized infantry Soldier and noncommissioned officer. He was commissioned as a transportation officer in 2004 through the Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia.

He is a graduate of the Command General Staff College, the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course (CLC3), the Airborne School, and the Transportation Officer Basic Course.

LTC Bernacki has a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, Blacksburg, Virginia, and a master’s degree in business administration from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.

His military awards and decorations include: two Bronze Star Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal (two bronze service star device), the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal (Hurricane Katrina Relief), the Honorary Distinguished Service Medal (State Department), the Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 2 device, the Combat Action Badge, the Army Parachutists Badge, and Irish Foreign Jump Wings.

LTC Bernacki is married and has three daughters.
