SFC James D. Peterson

Senior Enlisted Advisor

Sergeant First Class James D. Peterson assumed the duties as the Senior Enlisted Advisor of the Army Field Support Battalion- Northeast Asia, 403rd Army Field Support Brigade, August 2022.

His most recent assignment was with Griffith Recruiting Station, Chicago Recruiting Battalion, where he served as the deputy station commander.

SFC Peterson enlisted in the Army on Dec. 26, 2006. He attended Basic Combat Training and Advance Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, graduating as a 63B Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic.

He has served in numerous leadership positions including team leader, squad leader, shop foreman, motor sergeant and platoon sergeant.

SFC Peterson’s assignments include: Bravo Company, 518th Tactical Installation and Networking Company,  67th Signal Battalion, 35th Signal Brigade, Fort Gordon, Georgia; Bravo Company, 70th Brigade Support Battalion, 210th Field Artillery Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, South Korea; 21st Chemical Company, 83rd Chemical Battalion, 48th Chemical Brigade, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Valparaiso Recruiting Station, Chicago Recruiting Battalion, Valparaiso, Indiana; Bravo Battery, 4th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery, 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. 

He has deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

SFC Peterson’s military education includes: Basic Leader Course, Advance Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Fiber Optic Course, Basic Fiber Course, Hazardous Materials First Responder at the Awareness Level, Hazardous Materials First Responder at the Operation Level with Product Control Mission, Army Recruiter Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, and Fuel Handler Course.

His Civilian education includes an Associate of Science in general studies and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Colorado Technical University, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

SFC Peterson’s awards and decorations include: three Army Commendation Medals,  five Army Achievement Medals, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Superior Unit Award, five Good Conduct Medals, the Nation Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal (with one bronze campaign star), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the NCO Professional Medal, (with numeral 3), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 2), the Basic Recruiter Badge, and the Driver and Mechanic’s Badge.

SFC Peterson was born in Hammond, Indiana. He is married and has two daughters.
