LTC Troy Johnson


 LTC Troy Johnson assumed command of the Army Field Support Battalion-Hood June 2021.

He enlisted in October 1994 as a field artillery crew member and served for seven years enlisted first with the 101st Airborne Air Assault Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and later at Yongsan Garrison, South Korea, and the 116th Military Intelligence Group at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Commissioned after Officer Candidate School into the Quartermaster Corp in 2001, he served as a platoon leader for the 530th Maintenance Company and company executive officer for the 348th Quartermaster Company, Camp Humphrey, South Korea, from 2002-2004. Immediately following the Captains Career Course he deployed to Iraq as part of the Public Order Battalion Military Transition Team. Upon completion he became the battalion S3 for the 244th Quartermaster Battalion. In 2007, he deployed to Iraq with the 530th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion as the material management officer. Upon returning, he commanded the 54th Quartermaster Company at Fort Lee, Virgina, and later became the general supply officer for the 7th Sustainment Brigade from which he deployed to Afghanistan in 2010.

Following deployment from Afghanistan he transitioned from general supply officer to the chief of plans before attending the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where he graduated in December 2013. He later became the chief of Effects at the Brigade Modernization Command, Fort Bliss, Texas, before moving to become the support operations officer at the 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas, and deploying to Bagram, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel and NATO Operation Resolute Support. Upon returning from deployment he became the 1st Armd. Div., Aviation Brigade, S4 logistic officer.

His most recent deployment was in 2017-18 as the chief of supply and services for the 1st Armd. Div., Combine Joint Forces Land Component Command, Baghdad, Iraq.

LTC Johnson’s military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College.

He has a Master of Business Administration degree.

LTC Johnson was born in Wakefield, Virginia. He is married and has three kids.
