Colonel Erik C. Johnson assumed command of the 402nd Army Field Support Command in July 2021.
He was commissioned in 1999 after graduating from North Georgia College as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree. Upon graduation, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Transportation Corps, detailed to the Infantry.
COL Johnson’s assignments include infantry platoon leader and company executive officer with 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment (Air Assault), 2nd Infantry Division, at Camp Greaves, South Korea. He was subsequently branch transferred to the Transportation Corps and reassigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as a transportation platoon leader, Forward Support Company executive officer and battalion S4 with the 528th Special Operations Support Battalion (Airborne). Following the Combined Logistics Career Course, COL Johnson assumed command of Delta Forward Support Company, 204th Brigade Support Battalion (1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry), 4th Infantry Division, at Fort Hood, Texas. He then returned to Fort Bragg and served as a detachment commander, and later as commander of the Special Operations Logistics Support Element (Airborne), Joint Special Operations Command. He then served as the support operations officer and battalion executive officer for 3rd Special Forces Group Support Battalion (Airborne) at Fort Bragg. Subsequently, COL Johnson was reassigned to the Joint Special Operations Command as the J7 support division chief before being assigned as the assistant chief of staff G4 for the 593rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and taking command of 1st Group Support Battalion (Airborne), 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), followed by the ACoS G4 for 7th Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington. He is currently the ACoS support operations officer for 8th Theater Sustainment Command in Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
COL Johnson’s operational deployments include rotations to Korea, Jordan, Iraq and Afghanistan.
His schools include the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Airborne and Jumpmaster Course, Pathfinder Course, Bradley Leader Course, Ranger School, the Combined Logistics Captain Career Course, the Command General Staff College, JPME II, the Joint Special Operations Master of Arts program at the National Defense University and the Army War College.
His military awards and decorations include three Bronze Star Medals, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, four Army Commendation Medals, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, the Korea Defense Service Medal, the NATO Service Medal, the Expert Infantry Badge, the Combat Action Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, and the Ranger Tab.
COL Johnson is married and has three children.
