Mr. John L. Bolton

Deputy to the Commander

Mr. John L. Bolton is the current 401st Army Field Support Brigade Deputy to the Commander at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. 

He came to the 401st AFSB  from the U.S. Army sustainment Command Lead Materiel Integrator directorate where he held the position of division chief, Ground Combat, Chemical, and Engineer Equipment division at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. Mr. Bolton is also a Baptist minister registered with the Midwest Baptist Conference and the Quad Cities Baptist Pastors Conference.

Born and raised in Florida, Mr. Bolton began his Department of the Army career as a private in 1976 and progressed through the ranks of staff sergeant before transitioning to the Army Technical Warrant Officer Corps in 1986. As an Army warrant officer, Mr. Bolton had many different assignments including motor sergeant, battalion maintenance technician, (heavy, engineer equipment and light), battalion supply and services technician, brigade maintenance technician, materiel management technician, materiel management chief, logistics automated systems support officer, combat service support automation management officer and others. Mr. Bolton’s military career culminated as he was assigned as the command chief warrant officer for the 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York, division senior logistics officer and the division technical warrant officer strength manager for 10th Mountain Division, Combined Joint Task Force-76, in Afghanistan.

After 31 years, 9 months of active-duty service, Mr. Bolton transitioned to civil service and moved to RIA. At ASC headquarters, he held many positions including program manager and system owner for the Army War Reserve Deployment System, Wildcat Maintenance Management System – director of logistics, and co-designer and program manager for Army Mobility Asset Tracking System. He has held positions of division chief, Enterprise Logistics Systems Management Division; director, Enterprise Logistics Integration Directorate; deputy division chief, Distribution Integration Directorate; and division chief, LMI GCCEE.

Mr. Bolton has had numerous deployments both active-duty military and civilian service totaling 14 separate deployments in four different areas of responsibilities. He has been assigned as a U.S. Army Materiel Command and ASC inspector general, stood up and became the first DCO for the 4th Battalion, 401st AFSB in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and logistics readiness center director at Camp Humphrey, South Korea, during the American / Korean Forces realignment and build-up of Camp Humphrey.

Mr. Bolton is a graduate of the Army Warrant Officer Staff and Senior Staff Course, and is a graduate of the Army Master Logistician Course and the Army Executive Product Support Managers Course. Mr. Bolton is an acquisition professional and holds Level III certifications in life cycle logistics and production, quality, and manufacturing, and Level II certification in program management.  Mr. Bolton is a member of the Association of the U.S. Army and a life member of the Warrant Officers Association. Mr. Bolton is also listed in Who’s Who of the United States.

Mr. Bolton’s civilian education includes a master’s degree in business administration from North Central University, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California Southern University, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in business administration from California Southern University.
