Mr. Rick Ellison

Deputy to the Commander

Mr. Rick Ellison assumed duties as the deputy to the commander for the 401st Army Field Support Brigade in August 2022.

Mr. Ellison graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1988 and was commissioned into the Army as a second lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery. He retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel in 2008 after more than 20 years of service.

During his military career, he served in armor, air assault, and airborne divisions, to include special forces and joint assignments at Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Italy, Turkey, and Germany. He held positions as support operations officer, executive officer, military assistant to the Italian chief of staff, commandant, group S-3, division chief, senior Joint Logistics planner, and battalion commander, to include four combat tours in the Middle East.

Upon retirement, Mr. Ellison joined the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command in 2008 as the senior Army Forces Generation Reset representative, covering all installations east of the Mississippi River before joining the Army Field Support Battalion-Bragg in 2015 as chief of the Installation Supply Division. He has executed numerous strategic support area deployments of units from Fort Bragg to the U.S. Africa Command, the U.S. European Command, the U.S. Northern Command, the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, and the U.S. Central Command. In addition, he has served in EUCOM and CENTCOM in support of units in theater to include Operation Allies Welcome. During this time, he obtained his Level III Life Cycle Logistics Certification from DAU and Acquisition Corps Membership.

Mr. Ellison’s military education include: Air Defense Basic Course, Combined Arms Services and Staff School, Logistics Career Advance Course, Joint Forces Staff College, Defense Acquisition University, Logistics Executive Development Course, Army Logistics University, and Army Command and General Staff College.

He received his master’s degree in supply chain management from Florida Institute of Technology.

Mr. Ellison’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Superior Civilian Service Award, the Civilian Service Commendation and Achievement Awards. He also earned the Parachutist, Air Assault and the Rigger Badges. He is a Certified Master Logistician by Society of Logistics Engineers.

Mr. Ellison is a native of Speedwell, Tennessee. He is married and has one adult child.
