COL Bradley J. Miller

Commander

COL Bradley J. Miller assumed the duties as commander, Army Sustainment Command-Army Reserve Element in July 2021. 

He entered the U.S. Army Reserve as an 88M equipment operator and achieved the rank of specialist before transitioning to the Commissioned Officer Corps. He served on active duty as a field artillery fire support officer with the 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division (Light) Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He later served as the battalion motor officer for the 2nd Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment, before transitioning to the Ordnance Corps, B Company, 725th Main Support Battalion as the shop officer. Upon leaving the active component, he continued to serve as the S-1 Personnel Officer of the 521st Maintenance Battalion in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, completing the Ordnance Officer Advanced Course. He was selected for command of the 826th Ordnance Company (AMMO) (MOD) in Madison, Wisconsin, and subsequently selected for command of the 892nd Transportation Company in An Nasariyah, Iraq, during combat operations. Upon completion of the tour in 2005, he served a 3rd Company command with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 646th Regional Support Group in Madison, Wisconsin. COL Miller continued as the 646th RSG S-4, deploying to Iraq for a second tour in 2010 as the logistics military advisor team executive officer at Al Kasik. He continued on as the 687th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion support operations officer for Yama Sakura 63 in Japan, and as the 371st Transportation Theater Opening Element Team chief with operations in South Korea. He served a one-year tour as the 646th RSG Fort Hood Mobilization Brigade S3. He started his first battalion command of the 457th Transportation Battalion at Fort  Snelling, Minnesota, and within a year he mobilized to command the 398th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (Maryland) with two months’ notice for deployment to Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, in support of the 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade. Upon returning from theater he was board selected for promotion to colonel, Army War College, and brigade command of the ASC-ARE.

COL Miller graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a master’s degree in occupational environmental health and safety. 

His award and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, three Army Reserve Components Achievement Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, the Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons, the Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, the Parachute Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the NATO Medal, and the German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge (Gold).

He was born in Chicago, Illinois. He has a daughter and a son.
