The Battle of Luzon allowed GEN MacArthur to make good on his promise to return to the Philippines in 1945. This month we'll take a look back on that battle as our 75 year commemoration of World War II continues. Also this month, a bit of history that never was, as we take a brief glance at one of the bloodiest battles that the U.S. avoided in World War II: Operation Downfall - the invasion of the Japanese home islands.

Newsletters are published each month on the 15th and distributed by the ASC History Office. Answers to the previous month's trivia, new trivia, and this month in military history are also available in each issue.
ASC History Newsletters are uploaded monthly to the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS) around the 15th of each month. DVIDS acts as the main archive for digital media for the U.S. Army. You can access ASC History Newsletters in this format back to the first print in September of 2010.

For archival and finding aid purposes, the history office updates and maintains a database/data finder of all ASC History Newsletter articles.
