Dr. Maggie Bruner assumed duties as deputy to the commander of the 401st Army Field Support Brigade in February 2024.

As the DCO, she is the senior Army Civilian within the brigade and assists the commander in integrating, synchronizing, and directing all aspects of the AFSB’s acquisition, logistics and technology support in the 401st AFSB’s area of operations.

She previously served as the deputy G-4 (Logistics), U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence as senior advisor to the G-1(Personnel)/4 director and key management officials on all logistics matters and coordinating logistical support with Training and Doctrine Command, Communications-Electronics Command, Installation Management Command, the Logistics Readiness Center, and Army Materiel Command’s supporting commands.

Previous employment assignments were serving as the director, Supply and Material Compliance Division, G-4, U.S. Marine Corps Logistics Headquarters in Albany, Georgia. While at the Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, Dr. Bruner held several positions that included Business Analysis Branch chief, team lead for Foreign Military Sales, and a systems analyst. While deployed, Dr. Bruner served as the chief operations officer in both Japan and Kuwait from July 2015 to January 2018 for Army Prepositioned Stocks 4 and 5, 401st and 403rd Army Field Support Battalions, to include watercraft operations at the Kuwait Naval Base. There, her mission was to receive, store, maintain and issue Army Prepositioned Stocks, ensuring Soldiers were always in "Fight Tonight" status.

She supported Operation Enduring Freedom in Bagram, Afghanistan, as the accountable officer for APS-5 from February 2012 to June 2013, 402nd Field Support Brigade. Dr. Bruner also supported Operation Enduring Freedom in Kuwait while in temporary duty status 2010-2011.

Prior to her arrival in Japan, Dr. Bruner presented research at the Academic Forum Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. Her topic was "PTSD in Post War Veterans: Issues Associated with The Veterans Administration's Screening and Assessment Process."

Dr. Bruner published works consist of "Bridging the Knowledge Gap between the Baby Boomers and the Multi-generations in the Federal Government." She graduated magna cum laude with a doctorate in philosophy in organizational management with a specialization in business management from Capella University. She graduated cum laude with a Master of Science in management, acquisition, and contracts from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Dr. Bruner is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. She has a Level III in Life Cycle Logistics, Level III in Production Quality Management, and Level I in Program Management, all from the Defense Acquisition University. She possesses a Level I certification in financial management and a certification in supply chain management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Among Dr. Bruner’s numerous awards received was the prestigious John W. Macy Jr. award for demonstrated excellence in the leadership of Civilians while serving in Afghanistan. This consisted of completing the first ever 100% inventory in the Logistics Modernization Program for Army Preposition Stocks located throughout Afghanistan.
