Deputy to the Commander

Mr. Michael Konor currently serves as the deputy to the commander for the Army Field Support Battalion-Northeast Asia at Camp Carroll, South Korea.

Mr. Konor was born in Chicago, Illinois. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in May 1982 as an infantryman, and attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning), Georgia.

Upon completion, he was awarded the MOS of 11B. During the remainder of his active-duty Army service, he served as a Vulcan and Chaparral Air Defense Artillery direct and general support technician, Arsenal, Alabama, Noncommissioned Officer Academy small group leader for Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, and a Patriot Intermediate Support manager.

Retiring in June 2005, Mr. Konor was hired with the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command as an AH-64 Longbow Apache Electronics and Airframe Logistics Assistance Representative. In December 2009, he became employed with the U.S. Army ,1st Armored Division, and multiple other units. In October 2019, he assumed duties as the deputy division chief for the Army Field Support Battalion-Bliss, Texas, Installation Maintenance Division. In September 2021, he was selected to serve as the Logistics Readiness Center-White Sands Missile Range director.

During Mr. Konor’s service in the active Army and as a Department of the Army Civilian, he has deployed 15 times, 14 of which were within Southwest Asia in support of Operation Desert Falcon, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Spartan Shield. The 15th deployment was in support of 1st Armored Division for their Regionally Aligned Forces rotation in South Korea.

Mr. Konor’s military education includes: Level III in Life Cycle Logistics, Level I for Program Management and Facilities Engineering, D-SAACP Advocate Level 1 (SHARP), Army Management and Staff College, AMCOM Training with Industry (TWI). He is a member of the Army Acquisition Corp.

He graduated from Park University in May 2010 with a Master of Business Administration. He previously earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and human resources with Summa Cum Laude in July 2008.

Mr. Konor has received five Army Superior Civilian Service Medals between 2011 and 2018, seven Civilian Service Commendation Medals for service in Iraq and Afghanistan, seven Army Materiel Command Civilian Service Pin Awards for service in Iraq and Afghanistan, and five Global War on Terror Civilian Service Medals. He received the U.S. Army Materiel Command’s Commander 4- Star Lapel Pin as a personal award from Gen. Dennis L. Via, the former AMC commanding general, during a visit to Fort Cavazos.
