Lieutenant Colonel George E. Horne assumed command of the Army Field Support Battalion-Benelux on June 10, 2024.

He most recently served as lead base operations sustainment-integrator, Security Assistance Group-Ukraine in Wiesbaden, Germany.

LTC Horne’s previous assignments include platoon leader, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 114th Infantry Regiment, Mount Holly, New Jersey; cavalry platoon leader, Comanche Troop, 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry, 1st Regiment of Dragoons, Budingen, Germany; chief of operations, G3 (Operations), 1st Armored Division, Wiesbaden; company commander, Foxtrot Forward Support Company, 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York; Support Operations officer, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Special Operations Component Command- Afghanistan, Special Operations Joint Task Force-Afghanistan; executive officer, 46th Aviation Support Battalion, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; executive officer, Oklahoma City Recruiting Battalion, 5th Brigade, U.S. Army Recruiting Command, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and lead planner, Large Scale Global Exercises G3/7 (Operations and Training), U.S. Army Europe and Africa, Wiesbaden.

He has deployed four times to Iraq and Afghanistan.

LTC Horne’s military education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course, the Scout Leader’s Course, Logistics Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff College, and the Battalion Pre-Command Course.

He commissioned in 2002 at the Marion Military Institute as an Infantry officer in the New Jersey National Guard before transferring to the active component in 2004. LTC Horne holds an Associate of Arts from Marion Military Institute, a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Rutgers University and a Master of Science in logistics and supply chain management from the University of Kansas.

LTC Horne’s awards and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, five Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, two Joint Meritorious Unit Awards, three Meritorious Unit Citations, the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medals, four Afghanistan Campaign Medals, two Iraq Campaign Medals, and the NATO Defense Service Medal. He has earned the Combat Action Badge and the Recruiter Badge.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he is married with one son.
