Lieutenant Colonel Sean A. Nice assumed command of the Army Field Support Battalion-Liberty on June 10, 2024.
His previous assignment was the chief of the 528th Sustainment Brigade (Special Operations) (Airborne) Army Special Operations Forces Liaison Element – Central, MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida.
His leadership positions include serving as commander, Echo Company, 4th Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment; commander of Echo Company, 4th Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment; commander of Echo Troop, 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, and Distribution platoon leader of Echo Troop, 3rd Squadron, 17th Cav. Regt.
His staff positions include serving as the Special Operations Command – Central forward J4 (Logistics); Headquarters, Department of the Army, deputy chief of staff, G-3/5/7 Special Operations Division logistics officer; Special Troops Battalion, 528th Sustainment Brigade (SO)(A), executive officer and Support Operations officer; the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, (Light Infantry) logistics planner; 10th Sustainment Brigade plans officer; 3rd Battalion, 361st Regiment, observer controller/trainer; and the 4th Bn, 4th Avn. Regt. S4 (Logistics) and assistant S3 (Operations).
LTC Nice has served five overseas deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, two times in support Operation Enduring Freedom, support of Operation Freedom Sentinel, and support of Operation Inherit Resolve in Afghanistan and Jordan.
He is a graduate of the Army Action Officer Integration Course, Non-Standard Logistics Course, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Theater Sustainment Planner Course, Support Operations Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Airborne Course, and the Air Assault Course.
LTC Nice graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Multnomah University in 2003. He holds a Master of Arts in business management and leadership from Liberty University and a Doctor of Philosophy in leadership and organizational change management from Carolina University. He received his commission as a second lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps through the college option program of Officer Candidate School in 2006.
LTC Nice’s awards and badges include three Bronze Stars, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (3 stars), the Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Star), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral 5), North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal (2 stars), two Valorous Unit Awards, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Staff Identification Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
LTC Nice is a native of Gaston, Oregon. He is married and has three children.
