Army Sustainment Command (ASC) provides globally responsive strategic logistics capabilities and materiel readiness to enable Combatant Commanders to conduct the full range of military operations. ASC is the Army Materiel Command's (AMC) single face to the field and synchronizes and executes logistics. ASC is the Army materiel enterprise’s decisive edge generating sustainment readiness from the strategic support area to the tactical point of need.

The under secretary of the Army, Mike Obadal, and Gen. James Mingus, Army vice chief of staff, recently toured Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, to gain deeper insight into the commands that bolster warfighter readiness. Their visit included discussing strategies and future plans with Maj. Gen. Eric Shirley, ASC commanding general, ASC Command Sgt. Maj. Jason Gusman, and Dan Reilly, deputy to the ASC commanding general.
The command team and other senior leaders from U.S. Army Sustainment Command visited multiple Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 worksites across Europe recently and met with senior leaders from the 405th Army Field Support Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, and other key units and organizations.
A U.S. Army Sustainment Command Soldier won in a Career Counselor of the Year competition in a stellar display of expertise. For Sgt. 1st Class Mark Tollefson, earning the U.S. Army Materiel Command 2025 Career Counselor of the Year award is a dream come true.
From forgotten manuals to battlefield lessons, the U.S. Army Sustainment Command’s history team turns old records into frontline support for today’s warfighters. Kaleb Bemis, ASC’s archivist, is a part of that history team. He manages more than 2.3 million historical documents for ASC and Rock Island Arsenal., Illinois. Those archives, along with the expertise of the history team, help ASC make better informed decisions that support Soldiers and strengthen the Army’s global sustainment mission.
Another senior Pentagon official visited the Powidz Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 worksite recently, underscoring its critical role in strengthening NATO readiness along the alliance’s eastern flank. Assistant Secretary of War for International Security Affairs Daniel Zimmerman met with leaders from the Powidz APS-2 worksite Nov. 19, including Army Field Support Battalion-Poland Commander Lt. Col. Michelle McDevitt, as well as 405th Army Field Support Brigade Commander Col. Ernest Lane II, based in Germany.
The winter season is here, and safety remains the highest of priorities for the 405th Army Field Support Brigade. In an effort to put ‘the freeze’ on cold weather and winter hazards, the 405th AFSB in Europe recently conducted winter safety training, which included tips and proven approaches to stay safe.
Dwohn Luckey was recently recognized by his leadership and his team for his quality work and dedication to the mission supporting Soldiers and Army families. Luckey was selected as the Army civilian BASOPS Transportation employee of the quarter for 4th Quarter, fiscal 2025.
Twenty-three years ago, Lucy Chesoli-Reinhard moved from her native country of Kenya to Germany. Now she works for the U.S. Army as a local national employee with Base Support Operations Transportation, 405th Army Field Support Brigade.
Thousands of service members, most of them Army Reserve Soldiers, descended on Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, recently for a major exercise. That meant Fort McCoy's Logistics Readiness Center's food-service team had a big task to ensure everyone had food and other supplies needed for their training. The installation’s food-service team ensured that need was always met, said Food Service Specialist Jim Gouker, Fort McCoy LRC.
The U.S. Army Sustainment Command’s global reach demands readiness, and Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Curtis Hulshizer ensures its people are spiritually and emotionally equipped to meet those demands. Hulshizer serves across the ASC enterprise to help personnel with their spiritual and emotional well-being. While his office is at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, he has connections with other chaplains worldwide to assist ASC’s personnel across the globe.
