Mr. Dan J. Reilly assumed the responsibility of deputy to the commanding general in October 2023. He was selected to the Senior Executive Service in May 2020.

As deputy to the commanding general, Mr. Reilly leads and directs the command’s global sustainment mission that encompasses a workforce of approximately 40,000 Soldiers, Civilians, and contractors. ASC links strategic and operational sustainment capabilities to tactical units, integrates and synchronizes materiel distribution, and enables Army readiness.

His most recent assignment was executive director for Support Operations at the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.

Mr. Reilly enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1984 and was later commissioned as an Ordnance Officer in 1986, eventually retiring from active duty in 2015 at the rank of colonel. Mr. Reilly has commanded Soldiers at the company, battalion and brigade levels in garrison, peacekeeping, and combat operations. His previous military assignments include platoon leader, shop officer, battalion S1 (Human Resources) and battalion S4 (Logistics), 55th Support Battalion, 56th Field Artillery Brigade (Pershing) Neu Ulm, Germany; assistant Support Operations officer and company commander, 801st Main Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; ordnance assignment officer, U.S. Army Personnel Command, Alexandria, Virginia; Support Operations officer, 1st U.S. Army Support Battalion, Multinational Force and Observers, El Gorah, Egypt; executive Officer, 725th Main Support Battalion, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; materiel officer, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; chief of Plans and Operations, G4 (Logistics), U.S. Army Pacific, Fort Shafter, Hawaii; instructor, Department of Resource and Logistics Operations, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; battalion commander, 626th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Rakkasans, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; brigade commander, 61st Ordnance Brigade and commandant, U.S. Army Mechanical Maintenance School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and Fort Lee (known as Fort Gregg-Adams since 2023), Virginia; Support Operations officer, director of Installation Logistics and deputy to the executive director Support Operations, ASC.

Mr. Reilly is a graduate of the Air Force War College with a master’s degree in National Strategic Studies, a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University and Bachelor of Arts in communication from Eastern Illinois University. He holds Acquisition Level III certification in Life Cycle Logistics.

Mr. Reilly’s awards and decorations include the Superior Civilian Service Award, Bronze Star, two Legion of Merits, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, six Meritorious Service Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, the Iraq Campaign Medal with three service stars, as well as Airborne and Air Assault Badges.
