Command Sergeant Major Jorge C. Escobedo assumed responsibility as command sergeant major of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command in June 2022.
CSM Escobedo previously served as the command sergeant major for the Combined Arms Support Command at Fort Lee (known as Fort Gregg-Adams since 2023), Virginia.
CSM Escobedo enlisted in 1994. He attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and graduated as a personnel records specialist (75D). He was assigned to the 516th Personnel Service Center in South Korea where he performed duties as a personnel records specialist. His next assignment was Washington, D.C., where he served as the noncommissioned officer in charge of officer records. CSM Escobedo was then assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington, where he performed duties as an administrative personnel sergeant. During that tenure, he conducted multiple CONUS and OCONUS training deployments and one deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 75th Ranger Regt., Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as the senior human resources sergeant. He was then selected to serve as the HHC, 75th Ranger Regt. first sergeant, becoming the first non-11 series NCO to serve as a Ranger Company first sergeant. CSM Escobedo served as the HHC, 75th Ranger Regt., first sergeant from April 2007 to March 2009. During his service there, he deployed seven times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and four times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon graduation from U.S. Sergeants Major Academy in May 2010, he was assigned to Headquarters, U.S. Army North (First U.S. Army) in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where he performed duties as the senior enlisted advisor to the chief of staff (G1), as the G1 (Personnel) sergeant major. Following his Army North assignment, he served as the 1st Cavalry Division headquarters and headquarters battalion command sergeant major. He then served as brigade command sergeant major of U.S. Army NATO Brigade in Sembach, Germany. He also served as the commandant of the U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute Noncommissioned Officers Academy at Fort Jackson.
CSM Escobedo’s military schools include: all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System, Nominative Leader Course (NLC), Commandant, Brigade, and Battalion Pre-Command Courses, Sergeants Major Course, Jump Master Course, Ranger School, Ranger Indoctrination Program, Airborne School, and Air Assault School.
CSM Escobedo holds a Bachelor of Science in business with concentration in management human resources from Excelsior College.
