MAJOR GENERAL CHRIS MOHAN
U.S. ARMY SUSTAINMENT COMMAND
Major General Chris Mohan assumed command of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command on June 15, 2021.
MG Mohan is a native of Carthage, North Carolina, who was commissioned as an officer in 1989 following his graduation from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. He was named as a Distinguished Military Graduate and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
MG Mohan’s military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, the Naval College of Command and Staff, where he earned a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies, and the Army War College, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Military Strategy.
MG Mohan’s overseas assignments include deployments to Southwest Asia during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
MG Mohan’s command assignments include: 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Tooele Army Depot, Utah; 80th Ordnance Battalion, 593d Sustainment Brigade, I Corps, Fort Lewis, Washington; Alpha Forward Support Company (Airborne), United States Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and 664th Ordnance Company, 553d Corps Support Battalion, 64th Support Group (Corps), III Corps, Fort Hood, Texas.
Other significant assignments include: Deputy Chief Of Staff for Operations Logistics, G-3, United States Army Materiel Command; Director, Strategic Logistics Integration(G-45/7), and later Executive Officer to the Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, United States Army, Washington, D.C.; Executive Officer to the Commander, United States Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; Joint Logistics Plans Officer, J-4, and later Deputy Logistics Operations Officer, Special Operations Support Command (Airborne), Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
MG Mohan’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (3 oak leaf clusters), Bronze Star Medal (3 oak leaf clusters), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (4 oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (2 oak leaf clusters), Southwest Asia Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Ranger Tab, German Parachutist Badge and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
MG Mohan is married to the former Cindy Griffith of Wilmington, Ohio. They have three children.
