ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill - Guest speaker Kim Sigafus McIver sings an Ojibwa lullaby at the National American Indian Heritage Month Observance held at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, Nov. 21. She explained how, in her culture, the drum is considered a woman’s instrument -- it represents Mother Earth and always has a steady beat, like a heart.
