Army Sustainment Command (ASC) provides globally responsive strategic logistics capabilities and materiel readiness to enable Combatant Commanders to conduct the full range of military operations. ASC is the Army Materiel Command's (AMC) single face to the field and synchronizes and executes logistics. ASC is the Army materiel enterprise’s decisive edge generating sustainment readiness from the strategic support area to the tactical point of need.

In the sweltering heat of Fort Knox, Kentucky, thousands of cadets are currently honing their leadership skills, from drill and ceremony to obstacle courses and night infiltration courses. Beyond the tactical drills and field exercises lies a critical piece to their success – hundreds of hours of planning and work from the U.S. Army Sustainment Command.
he Army’s greatest asset is its people. This is why ASC supports programs such as Choose to Lose - which focuses on helping Soldiers, Civilians, and their families make healthy lifestyle changes and meet their wellness goals. Participants met milestones such as running a 5k for the first time, going to the gym as a family, and trying new healthy meals.
The newest, most modern prepositioned stocks worksite in the world, officially named the Powidz Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 worksite, began receiving the first batch of equipment late June by rail. The new APS-2 worksite will outfit an entire modernized armored brigade combat team.
Waverly Woodson never wanted to be a hero. “There is no hero,” he said in a 1994 interview with ABC News, “it’s just that you’re there and you do what you can do.” Yet the name Waverly B. Woodson Jr. resonates deeply within the archives of military history, symbolizing unparalleled bravery and compassion in the face of adversity. An African American medic with the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion, First Army, Cpl. Woodson's heroism during the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944, exemplifies the highest ideals of medical service in the military.
For nearly 18 years, the U.S. Army Sustainment Command has ensured that America's Army remains well-supplied, operationally effective, and ready to meet any challenge. ASC marked 2024 with its inaugural Hall of Fame to emphasize the critical importance of logistics in military operations and to recognize those who have made exceptional contributions to the command.
Congratulations to Sgt. Margarita Ferreira and Staff Sgt. Jesse Johnston on completing the ASC Best Warrior Competition! The four-day competition began June 11 at Marseilles Training Center, Illinois, and tested their combat skills. Both competitors will represent ASC at the U.S. Army Materiel Command level of the competition.
A powerful indicator of an effective Army noncommissioned officer is her mastery of warrior tasks and skills, and Sgt. Margarita Ferreira recently demonstrated hers during the U.S. Army Sustainment Command Best Warrior Competition at Marseilles Training Center and Rock Island Arsenal, both in Illinois.
Unique field support battalion set to command two APS-2 worksites changes leadership.
The battalion that made history when it issued hundreds of Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 tactical vehicles and equipment pieces to the XVIII Airborne Corps and the 82nd Airborne Division on a no notice rapid deployment to Europe in response to Russian aggression as part of Operation Assure and Deter changed leadership June 10.
One Soldier and one Department of the Army Civilian were honored for their service to the nation during a Rock Island Arsenal quarterly retirement ceremony here June 6 at Heritage Hall.
