LTC David A. Lukefahr

Commander, Army Field Support Battalion - Kuwait

Lieutenant Colonel David A. Lukefahr assumed command of the Army Field Support Battalion- Kuwait at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, June 24, 2025.

LTC Lukefahr’s previous assignment was instructor with the Department of Sustainment and Force Management, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

His duty assignments include Distribution platoon leader, Forward Support Company executive officer and Battalion S4 (Logistics) in the 54th Engineer Battalion in Germany; the Support Operations Transportation officer, rear detachment commander, and 1st Support Maintenance company commander with 541st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion at Fort Riley, Kansas; Operations officer with 1st Sustainment Brigade S3 (Operations) section, Fort Riley; Support Operations officer with 1st Armored Division Combat Aviation Brigade and executive officer, for the 1st Armored Division Sustainment Brigade at Fort Bliss, Texas; and an observer coach trainer with Operations Group at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Johnson, Louisiana.

LTC Lukefahr’s deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2008 - 2009, Operation Enduring Freedom from 2010 - 2011, and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in 2019.

His military education and training includes Basic Officer Leader Course Phase II, Quartermaster BOLC Phase III, Sling Load Inspector Certification Course, Support Operations Course (Phase I and II), Airload Planners Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course 3, Combatives Level I, Unit Movement Officers Course, Command and General Staff Officer Course, Global Combat Support System-Army Middle Manager Course, Joint Readiness Training Center Observer Coach/Trainer Certification Course, U.S. Army Command and General Staff Instructor Course, and the Air Assault Course.

LTC Lukefahr attended the University of Hawaii’s Reserve Officer Training Corps and received his commission in 2007 into the Quartermaster Corps. He attended Hawaii Pacific University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics and attended Advanced Civil Schooling at HPU earning a Master of Arts in organizational change in 2016.

LTC Lukefahr’s awards and decorations include: two Bronze Star Medals, five Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, three Meritorious Unit Citations, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (3 Campaign Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (1 Star), Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4), NATO Medal (1 Star), Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Basic Army Instructor Badge.

He is married with one child.
