Master Sergeant Tobi Nelson assumed duties as the Senior Enlisted Advisor of the Army Field Support Battalion-Kuwait in July 2023.

MSG Nelson was born at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Maryland. She enlisted in the Army in August 1997. She attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee (known as Fort Gregg-Adams since 2023), Virginia. She was awarded the military occupational specialty of automated logistical specialist, 92A.

MSG Nelson’s previous assignments include 595th Maintenance Company, K-16, South Korea; 3rd Forward Support Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia; Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 507th Corps Support Group, Fort Bragg (known as Fort Liberty since 2023), North Carolina; B Co, 249th Prime Power Battalion, Fort Bragg; 5th Battalion-5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Camp Casey, South Korea; Company A, 230th Brigade Support Battalion, North Carolina Army National Guard; Headquarters Support Company, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg; Companies A and B, 3rd Battalion-60th Infantry Regiment, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; 19th Expeditionary Support Command, Camp Casey, South Korea; 101st Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; HHC, 10th Sustainment Brigade, Fort Drum, New York; and HSC, 277th Aviation Support Battalion, Fort Drum.

MSG Nelson deployed to Kuwait in December 2000 to support the 3rd Squadron, 7th U.S. Cavalry Regiment. She also deployed to Kuwait during Operation Enduring Freedom from December 2002 - March 2003. She has twice deployed to Iraq, first in 2007 as contract support with ManTech International Corporation supporting the Army’s Reset Mission and again in 2011 supporting Operation New Dawn with XVIII Airborne Corps.

MSG Nelson’s military education include the Master Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Basic Leaders Course, Drill Sergeant School, Foundational Instructor Facilitator Course, and Equal Opportunity Leaders Course.

MSG Nelson’s decorations and awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, seven Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, six Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, two Iraq Campaign Medals, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (5th award), Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, and Driver's Badge.

MSG Nelson holds an associate degree in supply chain management from Coastline Community College and is currently working towards her bachelor’s degree in reverse logistics with American Military University.

She is married to Nicholas Kilen of Greenbush, Minnesota.
