LTC Yong C. Choe

Commander, Army Field Support Battalion - Southwest Asia

Lieutenant Colonel Yong C. Choe assumed command of the Army Field Support Battalion-Southwest Asia in Kuwait on July 1, 2025.

He previously served as the deputy commanding officer and Operations officer with the 10th Support Group, Torii Station, Okinawa, Japan.

LTC Choe’s previous assignments include: platoon leader and executive officer, Golf Forward Support Company, 725th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska/Iraq; company commander, Echo FSC, 302nd Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, South Korea; brigade Plans officer, 191st Infantry Brigade, Division West, 1st Army Fort Lewis, Washington; Security Forces advisor, Operations Coordination Center-Provincial Uruzgan, Combined Joint Task Force-Uruzgan, Regional Command-South, Afghanistan; battalion S4 (Logistics), Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, Eighth Army, Yongsan, South Korea; student, Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Brigade S4, 1st Division Artillery, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas; Support Operations officer, 142nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss; brigade Operations officer, 1st Sust Bde, 1st Armd Div, Fort Bliss; deputy division chief, assistant chief of staff 5-communication strategy, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea; and executive officer to the assistant chief of staff U/C/J-5 (Plans), Camp Humphreys, South Korea.

He is a graduate of the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, and Command and General Staff College.

LTC Choe attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where he received his commission into the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps upon graduation. At Pembroke, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 2005. LTC Choe also holds a master’s degree in management from Webster University.

LTC Choe’s awards and decorations include the two Bronze Star Medals, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, Joint Service Commendation Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, two Joint Service Achievement Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, and other campaign, service and unit awards. He also has been awarded the Parachutist Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, and Order of Saint Martin.

LTC Choe was born in Busan, South Korea. He is married and has two children.
