Command Sergeant Major Emanuel T. Stephens assumed responsibility as command sergeant major of the 401st Army Field Support Brigade, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, July 5, 2024.

CSM Stephens’s previous assignment was CSM of the 49th Transportation Battalion, 13th Armored Corps Sustainment Command, Fort Cavazos, Texas.

CSM Stephens entered the U.S. Army on November 10, 2003, and completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, Heavy Wheeled Operator at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After completion of AIT, he attended the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Moore, Georgia, and was awarded the Basic Parachutist Badge.

His active duty assignments include: heavy-wheeled operator, Alpha Company, 4th Brigade, 82nd Division, Fort Bragg (known as Fort Liberty since 2023), North Carolina; squad leader, 1st Platoon, 233rd Transportation Company, 87th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia; senior drill sergeant, Delta Company, 260th Battalion, 193rd Brigade, Fort Jackson; platoon sergeant and first sergeant, Golf Company, 2/321st Battalion, 4th BDE, 82nd DIV, Fort Bragg; first sergeant, 2nd Battalion Forward Support Company, 1st Special Forces Group, Airborne, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; equal opportunity advisor, Camp Humphreys, South Korea; U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas; sergeant major, 839th Transportation Battalion, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, Livorno, Italy.

CSM Stephens’ military education includes all levels of Noncommissioned Officer Education System courses; Airborne School; Jumpmaster Course; Pathfinder Course; Battle Staff Couse; Operational Contracting; Joint Logistics Course; Support Operations Course Phase I and II; United States Army Drill Sergeant Course; Equal Opportunity Advisor Course; and Basic Instructor Training.

CSM Stephens holds an associate degree in business management from Georgia Military College, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Franklin University, a master’s degree in business administration from University of Texas at El Paso, and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Trident University.

CSM Stephens is a native of Macon, Georgia and has four children.
