COL Jason P. Book

Commander, 403rd Army Field Support Brigade

Colonel Jason P. Book assumed command of the 403rd Army Field Support Brigade at Camp Henry, South Korea, on Aug. 6, 2025.

COL Book’s previous assignment was a faculty member at the School of Advanced Military Studies, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

COL Book enlisted into B Company, 153rd Engineer Battalion, South Dakota Army National Guard, in 1995 as a combat engineer. After receiving his commission, COL Book’s first assignment was as an infantry platoon leader and company executive officer, C Company, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, Fort Riley, Kansas. His other assignments include battalion (S3) Operations officer and company commander in the 35th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Sagami General Depot, Japan; plans officer, (G4) Logistics, Third Army, Fort McPherson, Georgia; current Operations chief, (G4) Logistics, Eighth Army, Yongsan Garrison, South Korea; brigade (S4) Logistics, 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Cavazos, Texas; foreign military sales program manager, U.S. Military Training Mission-Saudi Arabia; Transportation officer and Materiel Management Branch chief, 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Fort Cavazos; commander, 25th Transportation Battalion (Movement Control), Camp Carroll, South Korea; director of logistics, Special Operations Command-Korea, Camp Humphreys, South Korea.

COL Book deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

COL Book’s military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff Officers Course, and the Advanced Strategic Leadership Studies Course at the School for Advanced Military Studies.

After reaching the rank of sergeant in the South Dakota Army National Guard, COL Book entered the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Following graduation with a Bachelor of Science in political science, he was commissioned through Army ROTC as an Army Quartermaster officer and branch detailed to Infantry in June 2002. He also holds a master’s degree in military studies from the School for Advanced Military Studies.

COL Book’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, four Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, and the Combat Infantry Badge.

COL Book is from Wakonda, South Dakota, is married and has two children.
