Mr. Gordon “Buzz” Hackett serves as the deputy to the commander of the 403rd Army Field Support Brigade.

As the DCO, he is the senior Department of the Army Civilian within the brigade and assists the commander in integrating, synchronizing and directing all aspects of the AFSB’s acquisition, logistics and technology support in the 403rd AFSB areas of operations in order to enable the combat readiness of all units in the Republic of Korea and Japan.

Prior to joining the 403rd AFSB, he served as the director of the Installation Management Headquarters, Defense Logistics Agency, leading 2,000 DLA professionals and managing a $1.3 billion annual budget providing enterprise-wide policy, program oversight, compliance, and worldwide operational support in environmental management, safety and occupational health, facilities and equipment, Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, and security and emergency services for DLA activities supporting 26,000 personnel worldwide. He also served as the deputy commander of DLA Europe & Africa headquartered in Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he shared the overall management, direction, and synchronization of DLA’s global solutions in support of U.S. European Command, U.S. Africa Command, and their respective military service components. Prior to this assignment, he served as the deputy division chief of the DLA’s Joint Logistics Operations Center. Earlier assignments included serving at the Federal Emergency Management Agency as director of the Logistics Operations Division and later as director of the Logistics Plans and Exercises Division. He also served at HQ, DLA, as the customer account manager of the Marine Corps Service Team- Marine Operating Forces and later of Army Service Team-Industrial.

Mr. Hackett retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel after completing a 20-year career during which he served as a logistics officer at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels. Some of his active-duty military experiences include: three tours to the Republic of Korea; aide-de-camp to the director of the Defense Commissary Agency; special assistant and later assistant executive officer to the deputy chief of staff for Logistics, Army G-4. His last military assignment was with DLA as the executive officer to the director of Customer Operations and Readiness, J-4.

Mr. Hackett’s military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic and Advanced Courses; the Logistics Executive Development Course, Joint Forces Staff College, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He is the recipient of The U.S. Army Association of Quartermasters’ Distinguished Order of Saint Martin.

Mr. Hackett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from Longwood College, a Master of Science degree in human resources management from Chapman University, a Master of Business Administration from Averett University, and a Master of Science degree in national resource strategy from the National Defense University's Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He is a graduate of Penn State University’s Executive Program, earning a certificate in supply chain management; he attended Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, Senior Executive Fellows Program; he is a certified professional coach and a graduate of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program class of 2021.

Mr. Hackett is a native of northern, Virginia. He is married and has three children.
