Sergeant First Class Jean Monvilus is the senior enlisted advisor for the 404th Army Field Support Battalion – Charleston.

SFC Monvilus enlisted in August 2000. He attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, with an MOS of 91B where he trained as a Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. Upon completion of AIT, he proceeded to his first duty assignment in 2001 with the 545th Military Police Company at Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), Texas. He served as the only mechanic at the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom for two platoons while assigned to that company while deployed to Kuwait.

Upon completion of that deployment, SFC Monvilus was promoted to specialist and was assigned to B Company, 602nd Aviation Support Battalion at Camp Stanley, South Korea, in 2003-2004. He attended the Basic Leaders Course, reenlisted and was promoted to sergeant before being assigned to the 164th Military Police Company, Fort Richardson, Alaska, in 2004 as a light wheel vehicle mechanic. He attended the Advanced Leaders Course and Level 1 Combatives course before deploying to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his deployments, SFC Monvilus was promoted to staff sergeant in 2007 before returning to Fort Richardson. In 2010, SFC Monvilus was assigned to Task Force Odin at Fort Cavazos, where he deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Battalion maintenance sergeant. SFC Monvilus was then assigned to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, to take the role of AIT platoon sergeant, instructor, Master Fitness trainer and Master Resiliency trainer and Equal Opportunity advisor. SFC Monvilus attended the Senior Leader Course at Fort Gregg-Adams (formerly Fort Lee), Virginia, in 2010. In 2014, SFC Monvilus was assigned to the 8th Theater Sustainment Brigade as platoon sergeant, maintenance manager, Operations sergeant, Future Operations, Combatives instructor and Master Fitness instructor and promoted to his current rank. In 2017, he was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Special Troops Battalion at Camp Carroll, Korea, where he was the Brigade S3 (Operations) sergeant, Brigade senior gunner and Special Purpose Equipment and Repair noncommissioned officer. SFC Monvilus is also the AFSBn–Charleston Quality Assurance Representative where he attended the Master Leaders Course.

SFC Monvilus holds an associate degree in exercise science with the training certificates of Certified Fitness Trainer, Specialist in Strength and Conditioning, Specialist in Group Fitness, Specialist in Exercise Therapy, Specialist in Sports Nutrition and Specialist in Bodybuilding.

SFC Monvilus’ awards and decorations include a Meritorious Service Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, seven Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, two Iraq Campaign Medals, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, two Korea National Defense Service Medals, seven Overseas Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, and four Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons.

He is married and has three children.
