Sergeant Major Richard R. Valino assumed duties as the senior enlisted advisor of the 404th Army Field Support Battalion-Lewis-McChord, Washington, in August 2024.

His most recent assignment was with the “Bayonet Division” – 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, where he served as the G4 (Logistics) Supply and Services noncommissioned officer in charge.

SGM Valino enlisted in the Army in July 2005 as an automated logistical specialist. He attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and advanced individual training at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia.

SGM Valino's career includes a diverse range of positions: equipment records/parts specialist, materiel management sergeant, materiel control/accounting supervisor, platoon sergeant, maintenance supervisor, stock control supervisor, rear detachment sergeant, materiel manager, Logistics Services NCO, and senior Logistics Services supervisor.

SGM Valino’s assignments include the 501st Sustainment Brigade, South Korea; the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky and JBLM (4th Battalion); 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, South Korea; 1st Bn, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Inf Div, JBLM. He also deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of combat operations and supported multiple overseas exercises.

SGM Valino’s military education includes all unit level Logistics and Army Maintenance System, Standard Army Retail Supply System I and II, Materiel Manager courses, Sustainment Automation Support Management Office Course, Global Combat Supply System-Army Warehouse operation course, Airborne School, Enlisted Combat Skill (Green Platoon), Combative Level I, Survival Evasion Resist and Escape, Support Operations I and II, Joint Logistics Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education I and II, Operational Contract Support/Joint Operational Combat Support Planning and Execution Course, Master Leaders Course and is attending the Sergeants Major Academy - Non-Resident (Class 50).

SGM Valino holds a Bachelor of Arts in supply chain management from the University of Arizona Global Campus and an associate degree in general studies from the University of Arkansas Grantham.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), the Army Commendation Medal (5th award), the Army Achievement Medal (8th Award), the Presidential Unit Citation, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Air Force Meritorious Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal - Campaign Star (3rd award), Iraq Campaign Medal - Campaign Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Parachutist Badge, the Driver Mechanic Badge - Wheel Vehicle, Canadian and Singapore Parachutist Badge.

SGM Valino is a recipient of the Distinguished Order of Saint Martin (Quartermaster Corps) and Knight of the Order of Saint Michael (Army Aviation Association of America and the U.S. Army Aviation Center).

SGM Valino hails from Manila, Philippines, and moved to Guam where he lived prior to enlisting in the Army. He is married and has one child.
