Lieutenant Colonel Sitara E. Buckner assumed command of the Army Field Support Battalion-Campbell at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, June 6, 2025.
Her previous assignment was G3 (Operations) Forward, 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
LTC Buckner enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard in 2004 as a unit supply specialist prior to graduating from Westwood High School. She completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia, in 2005. Three years later she commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Transportation Corps.
Throughout her 21-year military career, LTC Buckner has served in the Army National Guard, Army Reserve, and Regular Army. Her assignments span a wide range of logistics and operational leadership roles across tactical, operational, and strategic levels. Her civilian experience includes serving as an Outbound Group Leader with Target Distribution and a Logistics Executive Team Leader with Amazon.
Her key assignments include G-3 (Operations) Forward, Kuwait and G35 Future Operations chief, 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command; Distribution Management Integration chief, 3rd ESC; aide-de-camp and J3 (Operations) Sustainment Joint Mobility Plans officer, U.S. Transportation Command; deputy G4 (Logistics), 101st Airborne Division; brigade executive officer, 101st Division Sustainment Brigade; brigade executive officer, 595th Transportation Brigade; Support Operations officer, 828th Transportation Battalion; Company Commander, 206th Transportation Company; battalion S4 (Logistics), officer in charge, 2nd Logistical Support Battalion, 349th Regiment; deputy Support Operations officer, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 260th Quartermaster Battalion; company executive officer, United Nations World Food Program Liaison for Operation Unified Response Forward, Haiti; platoon leader, 10th Transportation Company; and Gold Bar Recruiter, Blue Tiger Reserve Officer Training Corps Battalion.
LTC Buckner’s military education and training includes the Command and General Staff College, Multifunctional Logistics Captains Career Course, Basic Officer Leader Course, Air Assault Badge and the Transportation Officer Basic Course.
LTC Buckner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice and pre-law with a minor in military science from Lincoln University of Missouri in 2008. She holds a master’s degree in transportation and logistics management from American Military University and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from Purdue University.
Her awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, seven Army Achievement Medals, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and one unit citation medal.
LTC Buckner is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, and has one daughter.
