Sergeant Major Demel Anderson assumed responsibility of the Army Field Support Battalion-Liberty in October 2023.

Her previous assignment was with U.S. Army Forces Command's Inspector General office at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

SGM Anderson enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 11, 1998, as a 57E, laundry and bath specialist, which later became the military occupational specialty, 92S, shower and laundry specialist. She completed basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and advanced individual training at Fort Lee (known as Fort Gregg-Adams since 2023), Virginia.

SGM Anderson’s assignments include: Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 10th Combat Support Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado; 702nd Main Support Battalion, Camp Casey, South Korea; HHC, 10th CSH, Fort Carson; HHC, 7th Sustainment Brigade, Fort Eustis, Virginia; 3rd Army, U.S. Army Central Command, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina; HHC, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Camp Henry, South Korea; 157th Quartermaster Company, Fort Cavazos, Texas; HHC, 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Fort Liberty; HHC, 3rd Sustainment Troops Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia; and FORSCOM, Fort Liberty.

SGM Anderson has deployed multiple times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

SGM Anderson’s military schools and education include: the Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Contracting Officer Representative Course, Inspector General Course, SHARP Foundation Course, Company Commander/First Sergeant Course, Operational Contract Support Course, and the Joint Logistics Course. She has completed all levels of the Noncommissioned Professional Development System and is a graduate of the Sergeants Major Course, Class 72.

SGM Anderson holds an associate degree in liberal arts from Saint Leo University.

Her awards and decorations include two Meritorious Service Medals, six Army Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, five Army Achievement Medals, Public Health Service Unit Commendation, eight Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal (1 Campaign Star), Armed Forces Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4) and the Inspector General Identification Badge.
