Sergeant Major Catherine M. Adams assumed the duties as the senior enlisted advisor of the Army Field Support Battalion-Bliss August 2022.

SGM Adams joined the U.S. Army in August 2002. She completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, then Advanced Initial Training at Fort Gregg-Adams (formerly Fort Lee), Virginia, as a mortuary affairs specialist (92M). Her past duty titles include mortuary affairs specialist, collection point leader, theater mortuary evacuation point noncommissioned officer in charge, recovery supervisor, recovery team leader, drill sergeant, drill sergeant leader, senior mortuary affairs staff NCO, Headquarters and Headquarters Company first sergeant, brigade Operations NCOIC, mortuary affairs and field services NCOIC, Alpha Company, Special Troops Battalion, 1st Theater Sustainment Command first sergeant (forward), and Master Leader Course facilitator.

SGM Adams’ stateside assignments include 54th Quartermaster Company (Mortuary) and 111th Quartermaster Company (Mortuary), Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia; Alpha and Bravo Batteries, 1st Battalion, 79th Field Artillery Battalion, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant School, Fort Jackson; HHC, 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, HHC, 13th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, and HHC, 201st Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; HHC (Support Operations), 1st Theater Sustainment Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky; the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence & Sergeants Major Academy. Her overseas assignments include the Joint POW/ MIA Accounting Command, Joint Base Hickam-Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Her deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom I-II (2003-2004), OIF IV (2006-2007), and Operation Inherent Resolve (2018-2019).

SGM Adams’ military education includes: Combat Lifesaver Course, Field Sanitation Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Sling Load Inspector Certification Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Blue Force Tracking Operator’s Training Course, Mortuary Affair Advanced NCO Course, Contracting Officer Representative Course, Drill Sergeant School, Army Basic Instructor Course, Combative Level One, NBC Defense Course, HAZMAT Course, Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention School, Drill Sergeant Leaders Course, ALMC Small Group Instructor Course, Unit Prevention Leaders Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Master Resilience Course, Company Commanders and First Sergeant Pre-command Course, Contaminated Human Remains Escort Team Training Course, Master Leader Course, Black Board Basics 101 Instructor DL Course, Common Faculty Development Instructor Course, the Asynchronous Distributive Learning Instructor Course, and the Sergeants Major Course.

Her civilian education includes an Associate of Science degree from Excelsior University and a Bachelor of Arts in leadership and workforce development from the Command and General Staff College.

SGM Adams’ awards and decorations include six Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, four Army Commendation Medals, eight Army Achievement Medals, seven Army Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the NCO professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, four Certificates of Achievement, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Drill Sergeant Badge, the Oder of Saint Martin, and the Prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Award.

SGM Adams was born in Aurora, Illinois, raised in Tennessee, and now lives in Texas. She is married and has two children.
