Lieutenant Colonel Erikson A. McCleary assumed command of the Army Field Support Battalion-Carson on June 13, 2024.
He most recently served as the Defense Logistics Agency liaison team chief to U.S. European Command in Patch Barracks, Germany.
LTC McCleary’s previous assignments include: platoon leader, 123rd Maintenance Support Battalion, 1st Armored Division, Monteith Barracks, Fuerth, Germany; platoon leader, company executive officer and operations officer, Alpha Company, Regimental Support Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Rose Barracks, Vilseck, Germany; Support Operations transportation planner, 101st Sustainment Brigade, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; assistant professor of Military Science, Virginia Tech, Virginia; concept developer, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Eustis, Georgia; Support Operations officer and Support Operations transportation branch chief, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia; S4 (Logistics) and Support Operations officer, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Inf. Div., Fort Stewart; and J4/5 (Logistics and Planning) joint sustainment planner, United States Forces Korea, Camp Humphreys, South Korea.
He has deployed to Afghanistan with North Atlantic Treaty Organization forces as gun truck commander, 594th Transportation Company, and as Support Operations officer, 3rd Inf. Div. and to Iraq with the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment. LTC McCleary deployed to Poland as the Support Operations officer of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Inf. Div.
LTC McCleary’s military education includes the Transportation Officer Basic Course, the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, the Support Operations Course, the Air Assault School, the Pathfinder Course, Command and General Staff College, and Joint and Combined Warfighting School.
He received his commission from Virginia Tech in 2006, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting and information systems. He also holds a Master of Arts in human relations from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration from The College of William and Mary as part of the Major General James Wright Fellowship.
LTC McCleary is also a member of the Order of the Spur, the Order of the Golden Spur, the Order of Saint Christopher, a SOLE International Society of Logistics-recognized Demonstrated Master Logistician and a Project Management Professional-holding member of the Project Management Institute.
His awards and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Commendation Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, three Afghanistan Campaign Medals, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, five Overseas Service Ribbons, the NATO Service Medal, the Air Assault Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, and the German Sports Badge.
LTC McCleary is a native of Stow, Ohio. He is married with two children.
