Sergeant Major Willie G. Foster II assumed duties as the senior enlisted advisor of Army Field Support Battalion-Riley, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, located at Fort Riley, Kansas, Oct. 17, 2024.

SGM Foster entered the Army on Jan. 21, 2004. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis, Virginia, where he earned the military occupational specialty of 88H, cargo specialist.

SGM Foster’s previous assignments consist of squad leader, 11th Transportation Battalion, Fort Story (known as Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek Fort Story since 2009), Virginia; recruiter, Army Recruiting Battalion Southern California; section chief/platoon leader, 10th Transportation Battalion at Fort Eustis; senior drill sergeant, 2nd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning (known as Fort Moore since 2023), Georgia; first sergeant, 21st Special Troops Battalion, Panzer Kaserne, Kaiserslautern, Germany; G4 (Logistics) mobility sergeant major, 8th Army, G4, Camp Humphreys, South Korea.

He deployed to Taji, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and Camp Dwyer in Helmand River Valley, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012.

SGM Foster’s military education consists of the Airborne School, Air Assault Course, Field Sanitation Course, Contracting Officer Representative Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Master Leader Course, Army Recruiter School, Drill Sergeant School, Master Resiliency Trainers Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Equal Opportunity Leader Course, SHARP Course, Company Commander and First Sergeant Course, and U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.

SGM Foster’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, six Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, Meritorious Unit Citation, six Army Good Conduct Medals, Humanitarian Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (5th award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th award), Drill Sergeant Badge, Recruiter Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge, Drivers Badge.

He also a member of the Order of Saint Christopher.

SGM Foster has two children.
