LTC Oliver E. Davis III



Lieutenant Colonel Oliver E. Davis III assumed command of the U.S. Army Field Support Battalion-Drum, June 2022.

LTC Davis was commissioned in 2004 as a second lieutenant through the University of West Florida’s Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps program in Pensacola, Florida, where he also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then branched into the Quartermaster Corps.

LTC Davis started his career as a platoon leader and executive officer in the 488th Quartermaster Company (Force Provider), deploying with the company twice to Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon promotion to captain, he served as an assistant operations officer in the 88th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. Following the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, he served as support operations officer Transportation, 210th BSB, followed by company commander, Distribution Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, New York. While in company command, he deployed for a third time to Operation Iraqi Freedom. After Company Command, he was assigned to Fort Johnson (formerly Fort Polk), Louisiana, and served as part of 162nd Infantry Brigade (Security Force Assistance) where he served as an assistant training officer and deputy SPO. Before attending Intermediate Level Education, he served as the BCT S4, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 10th MD, where he deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Following Resident-ILE, LTC Davis served as the BCT S4 and SPO for the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, at Fort Stewart, Georgia, where he deployed twice in support of Atlantic Resolve. Following his major key developmental years, he was assigned to the 21st Theater Sustainment Command in Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he served as the Future Operations Branch chief, secretary of the general staff, and the executive officer to the commanding general. In his most recent assignment, LTC Davis served as the brigade executive officer, 405th Army Field Support Brigade.

LTC Davis’ military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, and Command and General Staff College.

LTC Davis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University.

His awards and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Combat Action Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. He is also a recipient of the Order of Saint Martin Award.

LTC Davis was born in Clark Air Force Base, Philippines. He is married and has three children.
